06 ford escape gauges/batery issues?

I left my interior light on last night.
When starting the vehicle today, it fired up then stalled. I went to start it again, it wouldn't turn over. 3rd time and ever time after that it starts no problem.

I let it run for 20 minutes to a half hour took it for a drive, it ran as it should.

But half way through a ten minute drive all the gauges stopped working but the seatbelt warning sign flashes even though my seat belt is buckled.

Any ideas?

Which hatchback/suv vehicle to choose?

I drive a 2011 Kia optima LX with a manual transmission

I want a car that…
- has a hatch instead of a regular sedan trunk
-Seats fold completely down to fit skis, mtn and road bikes, lumber, fishing gear, and my 90lb dog.
-I live in Michigan so we get terrible winters, but there are no hills and I've done amazing in a compact sedans with fwd only, I'm guessing an SUV with fwd will be the same as a sedan with fwd?
-good mpg, I get 23 city, and 35 highway in my current car.

and something that likes to get a little dirty in some shallow mud and dirt roads.

The cars i'm considering in my price range around 13,000
2012 Ford Focus hatch
2009-2010 Jeep Patriot
2007-2009 Ford Escape
2011 Dodge Journey
and any other suggestions you have

Added (1). Subarus are out of my price range, they have too many miles for 13k

What's the best vehicle for light offroading?

Looking for a vehicle that can handle light-medium off-roading(shallow stream/creek crossing, dirt trails, occasional mud trails) AND be a efficient, comfortable daily driver. Don't mind modifying abit with A/T tires, small lift, maybe custom skid plates. I'm looking at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen Honda CR-V, Honda Pilot, Subaru Forester/Outback, and possibly a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander/Ford Escape(though i'd have to save up more).

Which would be the best as far being a on/offroad vehicle? Would water get through the door seals on a car of that sort if i drove through 2ft of water? I heard Land Rovers can handle alot of water so i'm assuming they have tighter seals at the bottom.

My other option is to just buy a older Jeep Grand Cherokee or Toyota Land Cruiser and keep my current car.

Battery related to temp gauge?

After leaving the lights of my Ford Escape on all night, I had to jump start my battery. It worked just fine but as I continue to drive it throughout the day, I notice my temperature gauge reads cold when I start the car, and settles down but remains toward cold for the rest of the trip. Also, when I first begin driving, the car jerks a bit, similar to when it would need an oil change. The oil was just changed so I doubt that's the problem. Is the temperature gauge and jerking related to my jumped battery? Or is this just a coincidence?

Reliability: 2008 Saturn VUE vs 2008 Ford Escape?

As the title suggests, I'm asking people around about the reliability of these 2 SUVs. I'm looking for my first vehicle ever. I'm a college student and I LOVE the road vision in a SUV. Not to mention I go into the mountains sometimes. I've looked around and have seen a lot of vehicles. Having test drove these 2, I know that the VUE drives like a car, the Escape drives like a "truck". So… I'd like to know about the reliability of these 2 vehicles.

Judging from what I looked up online, I've seen that 2008 VUE doesn't have too many problems (maybe they have a lower selling volume?) and the 2008 Ford Escape has a ton of transmission problems. I need people who are more experienced to advice me on this. The VUE has 117k miles on it and the Escape has 96k miles on it. Both are priced at $9000. Please advice me, thanks in advance!

Putting a car in park while moving at higher speeds?

So my sister has very little experience driving a car. When I say that, I mean it. She CAN'T DRIVE lol. She has epilepsy, and let me just say this. According to the DMV in the state of FL, if you have epilepsy you can obtain a license as long as you have gone 2 years seizure free. Which she has and is on meds for it. But that's not the problem here. She just really doesn't know how to drive a car. She is 19 and got her license a couple months ago. Anyways, she claims that yesterday she was going 50-60mph and she tried to stop but she couldn't. So she said that she threw the car in park at 50-60mph to stop the car because apparently she had no brakes. She has done that once before but at a much lower speed (2mph) pulling up to where she works. She wasn't fully stopped so she put it in park and it felt like we just rearended someone and the transmission fell out. So how could she have done that going 50-60mph? Is she lying? Am I missing something here? My dad checked the car and he said that the brakes are working just fine, the back ones sound a bit funny but they work and he put brake fluid in it a couple weeks ago and there's no break fluid leak. So how would it be possible that there are suddenly brakes like the brake fairy came along? I feel that if she did do that, the car would have been totaled. The car is a 2001 Ford Escape. I'm 17 btw and I'm supposed to be getting this car ti get me to work after she buys her own (this week) lol.

Auto Insurance? (Just liability)?

So I'm 17 and my mom just got a new car so for the time being she's letting me have her old car. It's either a 2000 or 2001 Ford Escape. The vehicle is fully paid off she owns it, there for I don't need full Comprehensive coverage, nor could I even afford it especially since I just started work that's why I'm only going to get Liability. I know you're probably going to say why don't I just go get a quote and why am I even on here asking this question. Well, I called them and I was put on hold for a good hour and a half and I don't even like giving info out over the phone, when I went on their website it took my info then said that I couldn't get a quote online. Stupid right? That's why I'm on here asking a simple, quicj, easy question. I'm not asking for a specific number, I just want to know the range of how much it'll cost for just Liability Auto Insurance? Like, is it going to be $400-800 amonth or what? Just a general quick range. I will throw this out there that I'm 17, male, good grades, 2001 Ford Escape, safe driver, had a permit for 2 years, and I had driver's ed. I don't know if any of that will help or not. But any help that isn't sarcastic or dickish is appreciated.
