In the 1960's when I learned to drive, it required a lot of work to keep a car much longer than 100,000. Now it is not uncommon and usually not that difficult to have a car last well beyond 200,000. I just got rid of a car that was becoming troublesome at 180,000- it was a 2004 Honda. But all this new technology on cars may break or become severely outdated well before the mechanics wear out. So who really knows.
