How can you tell if a used car should have come with a key fab?
I bought a 2003 Ford Escape and the door only unlocks from the driver's side. There's no other way of getting into the car. Should it have come with a key fab? Can I just get a new one and program it?
Fob… Key fob… Not fab. If the door doesn't unlock with the key, there's a problem bigger than the lack of a fob.
If it STARTS you have a chip in the key that the car is programed to accept.
What you are calling a FAB, should be called FOB, in is actually a REMOTE for power locks. A new remote can be used, but you may need someone with special equipment to pair the remote to the vehicle.
- If you have enough money, can you have a new classic car built? Like can I pay to have ford build me a 1970 Mustang? Lets say I don't want to buy an old car and restore it, I want a 1970 but straight off the factory line. Can you have a car built with the old style frame, engine, trans, etc?
- If I have a 2008 Mercury Mariner and have the key below could I use the standard key and remote? What I mean by standard remote and key is like the ones Ford, Mecury, and Lincoln came out with at first with just a remote and key. Also how would an extra key cost like the one in the picture above? Would it be cheaper to do the the standard key and remote?
- I have a Ford F150. I'm thinking about going to walmart and get a key copy, and it has a chip. Will the key they provide me start the car? It's a 2007 model by the way. It has a chip on the key, and I was wondering if the cloned car key they give me be able to start the car up.
- I have a 1976 Ford F150 with a 390 engine. Can anyone tell me what the spark plug gap should be? Don't answer if you don't know. And don't answer if you are just trying to be a wise guy.
