Help me out with this noise my car is making?
I have a 2010 Ford Escape 2.5L and it's making this ringing noise from the engine. I took the belt off thinking it was a pulley and it still makes it. Wondering if anyone would be familiar with this noise. It has around 80k miles on it. And besides the noise it runs fine.
Crack on the engine block. Check for coolant level. Coolant level is low, there could be a crack on the block.
Make sure the harmonic balancer isn't damaged. Check the heat shields on the exhaust. Check the cam belt tensioner.
Sounds like time for a timing chain and guides.
Bet you haven't been changing the engine oil and filter every 3,000 miles!
My advice - rather than getting wrong guesses here, you need to have a qualified mechanic do an inspection
Could be many things. You need a hose to stick in your ear and move it around to locate the noise source. Could be an exhaust manifold leak.
Is there oil in it? If it's full, it sounds like the VVT actuator has gone defective.
- My car is making noise when I turn the wheel, what could be causing it? I put power steering fluid in and double checked it to make sure it was full, which it is. But whenever I turn the wheel it still makes a terrible noise, i almost want to not drive it anymore just because of that noise. Anyone have an idea what it could be? Is it the power steering pump maybe? If it helps, my car is a 2001 Ford Mustang, FWD. The noise is coming from the front of the car.
- Car is making creaking noise? I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SE and it's been making a creaking noise when turning or hitting bumps/driving rougher roads. It's been to the mechanic a few times for the power steering recall and a damaged hub bearing and wheel due to hitting a pot hole. I was told by one mechanic that it needs new ball joints and lower control arms. Should I get a second opinion or is that the main cause of this noise? I recorded it and can send upon request. - Drove over hill too fast and car is making a thumping noise? I have a 2003 ford focus. Today I was driving and went to make a turn fast and went up a hill and it hit my car and made a loud noise. When pulled up my car started making a thumping noise I thought that it was the tire but when I popped the good and accelerated while in drive the engine was moving up it's still running fine but moving and making a thump when accelerating. What could be wrong with it please help.
- Ford f150 2007- making a whining noise, I have replaced power steering pump? I was told by a shade tree mechanic that there was air in the lines, bc while it's running the fluid level in canister is moving around a good bit. What's the line i need to break to drain fluid out completely
