Going camping and need food ideas that require no refrigeration and no camping stove?

We will have very little refrigeration i'm sharing a very small cooler between me and my boyfriend and we don't own a camping stove of any kind all we will have to cook is the fire pit and a grate. The main issue is space going to and from the campsite because I have to fit 4 people and all their camping gear in my ford escape (small SUV).

The best meals in camp are prepared fresh. Meals need not be elaborate, Actually simple is better.

Good or bad food is the one thing that will have the greatest impact upon enjoyment of the camping experience. My wife, two daughters and myself camped comfortably and ate well for two weeks at a time using a small car.

Ham for breakfast tends to keep for a couple days at least, along w/ eggs and potatoes.

I carry cheese that I eat on brown rice chips. I carry various fruits. I also prepare pancakes and French toast, using the egg white that comes in cartons. I usually can store the egg whites a few days without ice or buy powdered egg or egg whites in cans. If you cook meats in terriyaki or salt, the meats should stay fresh several days without refrigerators.

Get a bigger cooler. Buy whatever you want to eat, and freeze it. The new coolers will keep food for 5 days frozen. Yes you will have to add ice as the time goes. A stove makes cooking much easier then a fire pit. Use the pit for hot dogs and sweet corn, and summors late at night. If you can make it at home, you can make it while camping with a little effort.

There are plenty of foods that don't require refrigeration or cooking. Just look in your cupboard at home for stuff you eat every day. Bread (especially flatbread or pitas), peanut butter and jelly (despite what some people think, jams and jellies are fine for days without refrigeration), tuna, salmon and chicken in cans or the foil pouches, eggs (which can also go without refrigeration for several days), crackers, hard cheeses like cheddar and swiss or soft cheeses in wax like Baby Bel or gouda, fresh fruits like apples and citrus, vegetables like carrots, tomatoes and potatoes (you can cut potatoes up small and cook them quickly over the fire). Summer sausage and hard salami will also last for days without being in a refrigerator. If you bring a pot or kettle to boil water on the stove you can make things like ramen or other casserole type dishes that only need to add boiling water. You can heat up canned chili, soups, beef stew, etc. Over the fire.

But the truth is that you will have more variety if you pick up a small stove. Camping stoves are cheap and you could get something for under $20. It's certainly nicer in the morning around camp to be able to quickly heat water for coffee and to be able to make scrambled eggs without taking an hour to build a fire and wait for coals to form. Here's a nice little burner from Walmart for $19.97:

If you really want to be happy campers, invest a few bucks in the stove.

  • Installing ac compressor, does it require replacing the dryer too? I removed ac compressor from 2000 ford mustang. Going to replace with new one and take it to jiffy lube for the recharge etc… Do i also need to replace the dryer as well? ALSO, when do i vacuum the system before or after installation?
  • How much upkeep do classic muscle cars require? I have loved classic American muscle cars all my life and have finally got to a stage where I can afford one. But I don't want to invest if I won't have the time to keep it in top working condition. How much maintenance work/costs does it roughly require to keep cars like a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro or 1967 Ford Mustang in good working order?
  • Why are my headlights getting brighter and dimmer and my AC going faster and slower in my Ford Focus? This issue had started about 2 months ago my battery died and so I replaced it I had my alternator tested and it tested good but I still have the issue with my headlights getting brighter and dimmer and my AC fan speeding up and slowing down even while idling
