Does Geico provide Full coverage on Vehicles with a rebuilt title?
So here is the backstory, my dad is trying to buy a 2008 ford escape hybrid, it has 16000 miles and a rebuilt title, my only concern is if geico provides coverage on vehicles with a rebuilt title, because i don't want my dad to pay this much only to find out he can't insure it, and also, what should i do if we buy it, does the state of new york require me to inspect the car as soon as i buy it? Thanks
Ps; Please don't say anything like: Don't buy a car with this kind of title' because i know, its just its a cheaper option for my dad
Either you or Dad needs to call and ask the gecko
Generally no, since a rebuilt or salvage title reduces the fair market value on the vehicle by up to 50%, and most insurance companies will not alowl coverage beyond the basics.
But call them and ask to be sure.
You will have to ask GEICO. How can anyone here speak for them?
Ask Geico. I have never had a problem here in the UK getting insurance on our equivalent.
Normally a car handled as a total loss has the title submitted to the state DMV and they issue a "salvage certificate". Once the car is fully repaired and inspected by the DMV they take the salvage certificate and issue a "Branded Title"(Marked Salvage). If the car already has the branded title it has passed the state inspection for repairs. It is a good idea to check with your insurance before purchase. Most Salvage vehicle are serviceable but have a lower value than similar undamaged vehicles. It can be harder to sell them or trade them in.
- Why doesn't car manufacturers provide their own car insurance? I always ask myself this question. Why doesn't the Ford, Chevrolet, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Nissan, and more provide their own car insurance? It's doesn't make a lot of sense to leave the insurance duties to companies that knows little to nothing about cars. Plus, Insurance would be cheaper. Sick and tired of getting RIP off by the Geico, and State farms of the world. What do you people think?
- Should I drop comprehensive and collision coverage on 2006 Ford Taurus to save money on premium? I own a second car which is a 2006 Ford Taurus. Market value of approx. $2750. It is in good condition, with 63,000 miles. Stays in garage, driven sparingly. Current insurance on it has comprehensive ($124 premium/$250 deductible) and collision ($285 premium/$500 deductible).
- Shouldn't congress pass the eye for an eye Christine Ford law where Ford has to follow Sharia law if she can't provide 4 male witnesses? Paying by 100 lashes for not knowing the date of the assault, not knowing any of the details of her claims, and not having ANY witnesses that unknown night because nothing happened.
- Rebuilt Engine suppliers? Is there one that offers Lay-A-Way? We're in need of an engine for our Ford Galaxie. But can't afford a good rebuilt engine right now. Was just wondering if there's a rebuilt engine supplier that has a Lay-A-Way option. Thanks. They would also have to be willing to ship if they are not located in Indiana.
