2006 Ford Escape Cruise Control just stopped working?
Never had a problem with my cruise control, then one week the cruise control would stay on for a short distance after setting it. Within the week, the cruise control just stopped working altogether. Any advice and ideas if may be would be great. I'd like to try and figure this out on my own before thinking of taking it to a dealership and have them charge me a lot of money for possibly a simple fix.
The CC on most Ford products are similar so your best bet may be to try one of the Ford Forums for some tips. There's a wealth of info on them and almost a sure bet there's an owner on there that has had similar issues. By now I suspect there's one exclusively for the Escapes, just Google "Ford Escape Forum".
The 'usual' suspect is the ON-OFF button pod, especially if it is mounted on the face of the steering wheel.
It may need an entire new module. Approx cost of parts & labor between $600-$700.
- Estimated cost to install cruise control? I just recently bought a 2000 Ford taurus and it does not have cruise control. I would really like to have it. I do know that I would have to get the steering wheel that has the buttons but what else do I need and how much is it going to cost me
