2003 ford escape keyless remote not working?

Hello this just happened last week I got off work unlocked my car door using the keyless remote stopped at a store and the remote wasn't working so I figured the batteries must have quit working. Put a new battery in it and it's still not working. I was wondering if it could be a fuse or if anyone had any ideas of what it might be.

If the keyless remote was dropped it may have been internally damaged. There's also the possibility of accidentally affecting its internal mechanisms if you had it close to a magnet at some time. Dropping your keys or just being around a strong magnets are things people do not tend to remember because it seemed like nothing at the time. Because it is not a battery issue and I assume you are not technologically savvy, I would suggest visiting a ford dealership and see if they can help. (or try calling their customer service if you really want to try fixing it yourself for free)

Your remote may need to be programed again You will need to program all remotes at the same time, programing one alone means the others will not work

1. Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the 8th time ending in RUN. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.

2. Within 20 seconds press any button on first keyless remote. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

3. Within 20 seconds, press any button on second keyless remote. Door locks will cycle again to confirm programming.

4. Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

You have two keys, see if the other one works. If it went dead you might have to reprogram it with the car. If you can lock and unlock the car with the button inside then it probably is not a fuse.

Did you buy the correct battery and put it in with the positive side in the right direction> if that's ok it lost it's programming or just broke.

If you have replaced the battery in your remote key fob, you MAY have to go through the procedure to sync it up with the car again. The information on how to do that SHOULD be found in the owner's manual. READ IT!

Because the battery went flat, you may need to reprogramme the remote
