Is it worth the effort to derust a Ford Transit?
I have just bought a 2012 Ford Transit and will be converting it into a camper to Roadtrip Europe. There's some light rusting underneath the van, and I was looking online but nobody seems to agree on how to get rid of rust or if it is even worth the effort.
Could you lend some knowledge? The van is only showing the beginning of rust in some areas, but they are hard to access beneath. Is it worth the effort and money to treat this rust DIY style?

It depends how long you want/expect the van to last. The rust might be showing from the outside/underneath but if rust/rot has got into the inside it's hopeless.
Brush off as much surface rust as possible. Then spray on a rust converter. That'll slow down the remaining rust.
Rust doesn't get better on its own, it will only get worse.
Hi so the steel is returning to metal oxide well it ends up like that anyway. It is just a case of when.
You could use POR-15.
- What oil grade does a 2005 Ford Transit TDCi 135 T350 take? Can't see any clear answer online for what oil grade this transit takes… Some people say 10w/40 and some say 5w/30! Just needs to know how much the sumps and and what exact oil it has! Plus if it needs to be semi or fully symthetic!

The code I was given in the log book is wrong any help? Sorry i got the serial code wrong i took the unit out and it said m258531 on the side does this help anyone?
