Is it possible to install a sub in a 2012 ford edge, or any car with a new stereo deck?
For my first car I'm getting a 2012 ford edge. Of course because I'm a teenager, I would like to put subs into my car. I just don't know if this is possible because you can't take out the stereo system already installed unlike other cars. If you know of any way you can install a sub in a newer car please tell me.
I wished I had my own car when I was a teenager. But I'm an old man now and right now I currently drive a 2015 Dodge Charger RT.
You can install a system in any type of vehicle. 6.5" and 8" woofers will give you a more tight punchy bass. 10" and 12" woofers are more common because they weigh less than 30 lbs and fit well in any type of vehicle. They are perfect for any type of music you listen to. 15" and 18" woofers are more for SPL or "loudness" because they have larger cone area to produce more output. The larger the woofer, the more deeper bass it'll produce. But the larger woofers lack to play the higher frequencies loud like the 8" 10" and 12" woofers. That is why the 10" and 12" woofer is more common and perfect for any type of music you listen to.
The enclosure of the woofer is very important. A lot of car audio novices lack to understand that the type of enclosure you put your woofer inside of will determine A LOT on what type of performance you'll get.
If your school offers basic auto mechanics and basic electronics, sign up. Those courses will serve you the rest of your life. A sub will fit in your Edge and you only need a good installation by a professional or otherwise experience person.
