How much longer can i go without getting an oil change?

I drive a 2014 ford edge and last Monday it was all like OIL CHANGE REQUIRED and whatnot. I think its been about 5000 miles since the last time i did it. I drive like 20 miles a day. I'm pretty busy and i don't know if i'll get to an oil change until next saturday. Help!

Added (1). yo its SYNTHETIC OIL

Lol one more week will be fine.

Check your oil.
If you are low, put oil in the car
As long as you have enough oil to make your car work, short term would work.
If you are low and run out, you could do real damage to the car.
My sister did that, she ruin her car.

It'l be ok change-wise for a week, but have the oil levl checked.

read the manual for how to do it, dipstick pushed in or screwed in, etc. And vehicle on level ground.

contact ford dealer ab how vehicle is handling o.c'.s

Unless you are using synthetic oil, and you should, oil should be changed every 3,000 without fail. Best thing you can do for your car. And never mix regular and synthetic. If you start to use it, the old has to be drained out first.

Check your oil bare handed
Wipe off the dipstick with your bare fingers
Does it feel gritty: If so change it immediately
Smell it
Does it smell burned
If so change it immediately
If No to the above questions, then change it as soon as you can

If your using full synthetic oil then your ok, if your running regular petroleum grade oil, your way over due and you need to change it as soon as possible.
FULL synthetic oil is good for 5000 mi. Reg. Oil is good for 3000 mi.
YOU TAKE CARE OF IT, AND IT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU.

Help is right. If you don't know how to read the oil level on the dipstick… Learn!
I'd be changing the oil every 3,000 miles if it were my vehicle unless using synthetic oil. Then it's every 5,000 miles. You should check the oil level every 800 to 1000 miles even if you're changing it on time.

Changing oil at 3,000 miles was good back in the 60's. We've come a long way since then. I go 5,000 miles because it's easy to keep track of on the odometer. My 2001 Honda always had 30-40% life left on it when I changed it.

Yes.

You are close enough for either oil type. But park the car on a level surface and check the oil level with the engine off and you pull the dipstick after first letting it stay off for an hour or more.
. It does not require the knowledge of an automotive technician… You can use your arms and your eyes to evaluate if the oil level is between MAX and MIN level. Add some oil if you need some. If the oil is at the MIN then it takes 1 quart to reach MAX line. Do not overfill. It don't matter if you have to dump it out the next week. Running low on oil is not what you want to happen EVER.
