Why is an Ford F-150, F-250, f-350, etc called that?

I'm new to trucks. Any info would be great, because I can't seem to find an answer online.

Ford

350== 1 ton

Chevy
10== 1/2 ton
20== 3/4 ton
30== 1 ton

3500== 1 ton

Kenny is thinking old school. Yes like 20 yrs ago they did have the name of half ton and one ton that was before technology took over back in the 60's a 1/2 ton truck could carry 1k lbs in the bed so it was called a half ton and same with 3/4 and 1 tons. NOW a 1/2 ton truck can carry nearly 1 ton of cargo. The f-150 is in old world reference to the half ton and whatnot name it just shows that the truck can carry more weight than the previous or less than the next. The actual name F- 150 wasn't that it was the F-1 it wasn't till the second generation did ford rename the truck to the F-100 to gain social and monetary acceptance because the US released its first super sonic fighter the Sabre or the F-100 in 1953
