Thinking about Buying a truck? - 1

I already have a car but I want to buy this 1975 f250 camper special it has little rust and 150k original miles (so he says) but I'm going to go test drive it and look it over of course just wondering if these are good trucks if anyone who's owned one or knew someone who owned one could tell me how good or bad they are I understand I could probably get a newer truck but I've always said if I was getting a truck it'd be an older ford and i feel it'd be less complicated to work on I changed the starter on my dads 07 Tundra what a effin headache that was took me 2 hours in my 1966 corvair changing that starter takes like 20-30 min

It's a 43 year old truck. It's a gamble.

How about something under 20-25 years old?

You already have experience with old cars. Reliability at this point as well as mileage is irrelevant. It's either been taken car of or it hasn't. They are easy to work on.

If you have done ANY AMOUNT OF MECHANICAL WORK ON VARIOUS VEHICLES then you would know that the starter mountings for each vehicle is DIFFERENT. Not a way to measure. Starters rarely cause a problem. One could last the life of the vehicle(or 20 years)or longer.
F250 is going to drink gas like an alcoholic on a drinking binge. Just so you know that and know that you would prefer to park the vehicle rather than drive around.
. Do you have a camper? If not, then there's no use for it in the WINTER.
