I can't get a right reading on ATF dipstick?

I did a pan drop and changed internal filter and gasket on my 2005 Ford E350 V8 super duty box truck. Now it doesn't leak fluid anymore through the gasket so I'm happy about that. I pulled out 8 quarts and put in 8 quarts of Ford Motorcraft Mercon LV atf. Even though the truck calls for SP Ford has discontinued SP and has stated that it is safe to use and mix LV fluid in their 5sp torque shift transmission. I drove the truck home and rechecked fluid, and every time I get a different reading sometimes it's low, sometimes it seems to be enough. If I check when the car has been sitting for a while it reads full if I turn it on, run through the gears and warm it up it reads low and lower etc. What is going on? The gears go through fine, when I drove it there was no slippage. I read on a forum where someone stated that "the LV fluid needs to be really hot to get a right reading on the dipstick that's why it is not really preferred."

I'm not about to ruin my transmission so I want to be sure on what are my next options. Also sometimes even before I did all this my transmission would clunk/screak when I would switch from P to D P to R R to P D to R etc. This happens once in a while, usually while it's been sitting for a while.

Normal or not good?

Added (1). I drive manual so I don't have much experience with automatic transmissions.

2005 Ford E350 pan drop, gasket change, what fluid?

So I have a 2005 Ford E350 5.4l v8 super duty gasoline. Former budget box truck. It has 193k miles on it. Recently my transmission pan gasket started to leak and I'm planning to change it. Bought filter with gasket (5r110w transmission) 5 speed. Truck says use mercon sp on dip stick. Ford says they don't have SP anymore and to use LV. About 8 quarts in pan. I also read online that it's ok to mix.

I'm super worried though, I don't know what budget used when they did maintenance, if they did it. Is it safe to say that if I do a pan removal and clean it out thoroughly, change filter and then add mercon LV it will be ok? Also I'm confused on how many quarts it should hold 14 or 7.5?

My transmission is in awesome condition and I want to keep it that way, plus it's imperative that this truck works since I use it for delivery business. I will also start doing pan fluid change every 30,000, I from now on.

Was the 352 Ford engine any good?

Was the 352 Ford engine any good?

Added (1). Well, good news so far. Thanks Gentlemen. I'm buying a 1967 Ford 250 4WD. It has the 352 motor in it. It sounds really good. Doesn't smoke a bit when started. Told it doesn't burn any oil. Has a 4-speed but really low gearing. 55mph is about tops on the road. It's my first truck. So I'm excited about it.

Added (2). I found out today how good this motor sounds with a decent exhaust system. I found a set of headers out of Craigslist yesterday. Today Midas put them on for me and a pair of glass pack header mufflers and dumped the exhaust just behind the cab, both sides. Wow. I'm really happy!

Diesel truck won't start when hot?

I've got a 2005 ford f350 6.0 turbo diesel, and it starts fine when cold but won't even hit when it's hot, I have to use starting fluid to get it goin. Even right after I shut it off. We have replaced the ICP sensor already. Any help will be much appreciated.

What Do I Need To Make To This Vehicle?

My neighbor is selling his 1990 Ford F250 diesel pickup that he inherited from his late father. However, the truck has not been running for five years, ever since it ran out of fuel. He just simply stopped driving it. What repairs can I expect to make for a diesel vehicle that has been out of fuel and not running for five years?

Should I buy 2003 Ford f-250?

I just saw a listing on a dealers website and they are selling a gasoline 2003 Ford F-250 with 196,000 miles (mostly highway miles) for $6,995 OBO, the truck has a 6 inch lift with mud tires and also comes with an camper shield. I would appreciate it of someone told me if the the truck is worth the money.

2002 ford f350 can't get keyless remotes to work?

Bought two new transmitter for this truck at the auto zone. I've only had the truck a year and never came with remotes but the guy at the ford dealership said that i can get them and do it myself. Ok so i did the 8 on and off things ending in the run position but the locks never cycle. Is there somethjng i'm doin wrong or does the truck not have the alarm system? My book says it should have the system. Any help is appriciated.
