Engine swap for a 97 F250?
I have a 1997 Ford F-250, with the 7.5L 460 (245hp). I want to add a bit of power to it, what mods can I add to the 460 to give it more horsepower, or could I swap it with the mustangs 5.0L coyote V8?
You're probably averaging 14-15 mpg and any power mods are only going to make fuel efficiency worse.
Instead of swapping engines, it would be far more cost effective to sell it and buy a truck with the performance you want
Find an RV 460. Swap or nab parts off it.
Downside: 4mpg.
There's not as much aftermarket for the 460 these days, but you can still get some "Sportsman" heads, a probably a more aggressive cam as well. Throw on some long tubes and you'll get another 75-100 HP pretty easy. I would not recommend a Coyote for this application. It doesn't have the kind of low end torque that a big block does, plus your truck weighs upwards of 6500 pounds and makes due with a 4 speed automatic, not ideal for a coyote
I would stick a 12 valve Cummins in it if legal. You can get up to 700 hp without much cost and get good mileage.
- 2001 Ford Taurus Engine Swap? I want to put in a new engine I was thinking a 3.8 v6 from a 95 taurus sho but I don't know if it would fit or a 4.6 v8 from a 2001 lincoln continential.
- Possible engine swap from 3.0 to 4.0 on 1994 Ford Ranger XL 4x4 manual? I'm wondering if I can drop a V6 4.0L engine straight into a V6 3.0L Ford Ranger XL? Both are 1994 ford rangers, everything the same as far as model/year just different size engine… And if not, what would need to be converted? I found a 4.0 for $250 with 0 miles so if its as simple as swapping engines/trannys I'm going to go for it… Thanks for help!
- Engine swap for a 2005 3.0 ford ranger possibilities? I really want to add a good chunk of horse power to my ford ranger, and the only way i'm seeing that happen is with a complete engine swap and probably tranny too. What engines will fit without too much hastle? Please keep in mind that the more horses and torque the better.
