Advice on truck for towing?

I need advice on buying/leasing a truck for towing a 5000-7000 lbs cargo trailer. I leased a 2019 ram 1500 5.7 hemi and I'm doing a lemon law because it continues to have issues. I noticed I had really bad mpg. I know wanna consider getting a Ford eco boost or maybe even a f250 6.2 gas, or maybe a 1/2 diesel truck. Any recommendations? Will be towing about 3-4 a week Advice on truck for towing

My younger brother is a commercial fisherman and uses his truck a lot for towing. It's a RAM 2500 with a 6.7 liter diesel. Aside from pulling his boat out for storage once a year, it performs really well. He told me he should have got the one with duel wheels in the back.

Can't go wrong with a 3/4 ton diesel. Do your research. I prefer the Cummins engine with an Allison transmission, but many people like the Duramax. You were maxing out the 1500 with the trailer you are towing. You'll get double the fuel mileage and much better pulling and stopping power with the diesel. They are more expensive to maintain than a gas truck, but since you're hauling so often, the difference in fuel should make up for it. Properly taken care of, the engine should last 200,000+ miles.

First and foremost, the max towing capacity for the 5.7L engine on a Ram 1500 is on the Rebel, and that's only 7520 lbs. On all others, it ranges from 6280 lbs - 6730 lbs. At 7000 lbs, You were already past the max towing capacity of your truck. There's your missing gas mileage. You'd better hope you didn't mention these weights when you started your Lemon Law process. If they can find any way to blame your issues on that, it's considered "misuse and abuse", and they will NOT take your vehicle back. If there are any future issues they can trace back to towing overweight trailers, your factory warranty will not cover those issues for the same reason.

If you're looking for a gas engine to tow these weights, try the Ram 2500 with the 6.4L engine.
