A garage in the UK put a bad part in my car. It broke down abroad and got fixed there. Should the garage in the UK pay for the repairs?
The part was a temp sensor. When the car broke down it was as a result of the car not recognising the new temp sensor- as it was a non ford part and the car is a ford focus- and therefore the fan for the car didn't turn on.
We were driving on the motorway in Belgium when white smoke started coming out from under the bonnet. We pulled over to the side of the road and got towed to the nearest ford garage.
the garage in belgium told us that the faulty temp sensor was the cause of the engine overheating and replaced the sensor for us at a cost of 250 pounds.
I have proof firstly that the UK garage changed the temp sensor and secondly thanks to the summary of work done in Belgium that the incorrect non Ford part was the cause of the problem.
Are the garage in the UK liable for the repairs?
No, the second garage lied to you either intentionally or otherwise.
If you were driving on the motorway when it over heated it was nothing to do with the fan. The fan usually only comes on when the car is stopped because there's no airflow through the radiator. When the car is driving the fan doesn't need to be on.
250 pounds is way, way more than the sensor should cost and besides, it kind of sounds like a hose blew.
People that are employed by dealer often conditioned to think a part has to come from them and everything else is inferior. Sometimes it's the same exact part in a different box, sometimes it is better and improved. My point is they are placing in your head a suggestion of negligence upon the previous repair shop (their competition interestingly). The truth is everyone is producing parts in China that are worthless and it's a nightmare we all face. Call the first shop, tell them what you went thru and the cost. Give them the opportunity to take care of you, don't carry on with the propaganda the Ford shop is spewing.
What a scam, No WAY that sensor was anything close to 250 it would have to have been made of gold.
If you're talking about a repair done at an actual Ford dealer, then yes. A factory approved repair is a factory approved repair.
No
Did you request a cheap part?
The garage should pay for the issue unless yiu wanted a cheap part.
This is why my garage insists on expensive quality parts.
It wasent smoke, it was water vapor, and can you prove it dident go bad after it was put in? No. You pay.
No
- Typical lib thinking? Ford had no idea when it happened, had no idea how she got there, no idea how she left, clueless who was there? And despite that every person she listed as a witness made a statement in a sense said Ford was wrong… The lib brain… Get even at Trump…> yep - Kavanaugh did it.
- Can a bad thermostat in a car cause the tempature guage in the dash to not work? Or is the guage itself broke? I have a 1991 Ford ranger and have no idea if the engine is overheating because the gauge doesn't work. Thermostat or gauge? Of its the gauge do I have to replace the whole cluster?
- How much do you pay to ford if you want to buy a new car and pay monthly? I was wondering, if I want to buy the new 2015 mustang, how much do I pay each month to ford if the car is $26,500. First car for me
