99 Ford F250 will only reverse. If change gear to drive, it is powerless. What is wrong?
If I change it to drive, it does nothing, if I step on the gas pedal, it will move slowly or sometimes no even moving. Reverse is fine, working great.
Low fluid, clutches burned, inadequate cooler.Internal hard part failed. Check for service codes yourself if you want, but it's best to just take it to the trans man.
If it was low, find the leak, get it evaluated for what's now in the pan. As far as internal failure evidence.
Being a 99, most likely the transmission has failed, the fluid pumps have died from age.
Check trans
Internal transmission issue (clutch packs burnt or bands)
You need a new tranny. Bans are stretched and most likely the clutches are worn out also.
Reverse works fine because it is totally hydraulic. Older trucks had hydraulic first gear, which would allow you to get around slowly. The newer ones (after 93-95 depending on make/model) had bands and clutches on all forward gears. Sorry but your looking at about $1800 to get it going again.
- Is there an adjustment for reverse gear on a 2004 ford taurus? Transimition slipping in reverse and have tryed serval different things to fix as changing transimition fluid and useing lucas oil and was wondering if there's an adjustment on the reverse band
- Ford KA reverse gear problem? This only happens in reverse, but when I try to select reverse it won't always let me select the gear. Also when I lift the clutch up a very horrible grinding sound appears when you don't put it into the gear properly. When this happens I always try to put it in properly but it still happens sometimes. It is a 56 plate KA Is it the gearbox, is it the clutch I don't know, but it is very annoying and inconvenient for me and other users of the road.
- I have 1998 Ford Windstar as of now when I put in drive/reverse it won't move. It just revs. The car starts up fine? It started while I was driving down the road and I pressed the gas to go a little faster and my rpm went up to 4 and went down. I have an automatic too. There's no burnt smell in my transmission fluid stick/tank. I just left the gas station before this happened if that helps. Any ideas? Someone suggest my second/reverse band and I have never heard of it.
