76 ford f250 heater core

I need to replace the heater core in my 76 ford or at least I think from my guess it is that. When I start it in morning (even in this warm weather) the windshield will steam up and it smells like anti freeze in the cab and motor gets hot fast. That is the heater core right? And also, if it is the heater core, it's just under the passenger side dash right? Thank you very much in advance any help is greatly appreciated!

Yep… Sounds like a core leak. Your best bet is to buy an appropriate Chilton or Haynes repair manual at a parts store… They sell for around 25.00… Some local libraries may carry them as well… The manual will show and describe the process of how to remove and install the core. Repair manuals offer other good info if you want to work on other repairs yourself. Some Ford truck websites or Youtube videos may also have details on how to do it… Google search for "76 F250 replace heater core". It can be a complicated process to replace the core and may be too much to handle for a novice or beginner since part of the dash needs to be removed or pulled out to get access to the heater case that the core sits in. If you lack the money to do repairs right now, you can also remove the hoses going to the heater core under the hood and connect them together with a short piece of pipe… Then top off the coolant levels… That will bypass the core so you don't have a leak/overheat or coolant smell/steam coming from vents while driving in summer weather.

Passenger side behind glove box you will see a plate that bolts on with like 6 or 8 bolts its behind that and your correct its the heater core for sure you can by pas it if need be so you can drive it without breathing coolant or smelling it even
