Does the Ford Excursion diesel really get 18 mpg?
I'm thinking about getting a Ford Excursion Powerstroke diesel. I read somewhere that they can get up to 18 mpg city. Is this really true?
Added (1). I forgot about fuel economy factors such as driving habits and weather. Can it really get mid-upper teens in the city?
Added (2). I forgot 4WD.
We got 16.7 MPG highway at 70-75 MPH with a 7.3L diesel Excursion on a 400 mile trip (each way). Which is quite good considering the size of the vehicle. But you aren't going to see 18 MPG city in an Excursion, around town you might get 12 MPG.
What is with your constant questions about fuel economy and large SUVs? In case you haven't figured it out yet. Good fuel economy and large SUVs are mutually exclusive, you can have one or the other, but not both.
NOPE! Try 12-13 city and MAYBE 18 highway
- What's the city mpg of the Excursion? I'm wondering what the acutual city mpg of the 2003 Ford Excursion is. Don't give me any of the EPA stuff because, it's not on there. I want a gas compared to a diesel. I want to buy one as my first car.
- Tow capacity on a 2003 Ford Excursion 6.0 diesel? I have a 6.0 diesel excursion and would like to know the tow capacity. It has a new torque converter, a new turbo, egr delete, a 4 inch exhaust, a 6 inch all suspension lift, and 38x16.5 tires.
- Do some people really care that much about driving a really nice car? My dad is perfectly okay with his 1992 Ford Taurus with 210,000 miles on it, no heat (he lives in Chicago btw), no A/C, and a f::::ked up passenger side door. He's not poor by any means, he's a CFO of a bank. He just says that driving that P. Builds character and he only cares about having a car that can take him from point A to point B.
- 2000 ford taurus, is really hard to start, when it does start it idles really rough? 2000 ford taurus, is really hard to start, when it does start it idles really rough until completely warm, we replaced 4 coils and at first it helped but has returned just as bad.
