Does Ford own jaguar? And do they use Ford parts in the Jaguar cars? - 1

I want to buy a Jaguar but I feel like it's just a Ford… Any info?

Google it urself online instead of wild guesses here child.

From about 1999 to 2008 Ford did own Jaguar. They probably did cheap out on many aspects of the cars especially the interior and they weren't the most reliable. Jaguars did share some components with Ford vehicles and were sold in some ford dealerships.

No it does not own Jaguar

Jaguar is now owned by the Indian company Tata Motors since 2008. Doesn't make me feel anybody than being owned by FoMoCo.

They DID for a while. Ford bought Jaguar in 1990 and sold it again in 2008. Jaguar is now owned by Tata motors, which is an Indian corporation, based in Mumbai. Ford also owned the Volvo car brand during the same time period, and design work and some parts were shared between the company's products.

Ford used to own Jaguar many years ago. Yes of course they share some common parts, just like every other make. All cars are at least 90 per cent identical mechanically, it would be ridiculously expensive to make individual parts for every different model.

Used to, but not anymore. Believe Tata owns them now. I doubt there's any Ford content in them anymore either, just knock offs made in India.

Ford did buy the company for a time. They mainly stuffed money into the company to keep making Jags at the Jag factory… To keep it going. Jag still made it with Jag parts using Ford money. Ford also owns Mercury and other operations.

"Giggle it" if you want to know more.

VW bought Lamborghini.(the company as it was floundering financially) VW infused it with cash to keep the company making Lambos. Their styling and parts suppliers stayed the same. Lambo is still made by Lambo(which is a subsidiary of VW group of vehicle brands)

Same idea.

Ford owned Jaguar from 1989 until 2008, when Jaguar was sold to Tata motors of India. During the time Ford owned Jaguar some models were just Ford running gear with a Jaguar body.

yes ford makes jaguar parts. They have for decades. Jaguar is now jaguar land rover, a subsid of Tata. But Ford still develops jag and land rover.

  • Does my car have a place for me to plug in my phone and listen to my own music? I have a light blue 2005 Ford Taurus. I want to listen to my own music and not the stuff on the radio, but I don't think that there's a place to plug in my phone. I have a cd player but not a tape player (is that what it's called? I'm not sure.) Does anyone know if this type of car has a place to plug in my phone or if there's another way to do it?
  • Older Cars From 1940 Or So Will They Use Today's Gas? This is a Ford Eifel from around 1938 or so and I wondered if today's gas will work or does it have to be doctored in some way like some older cars need higher octane or is that even true? I'm just curious so don't waste time bustin' my chops over it. Thanks and thumbs up to all who answer… Just give me time to get back and read the answers.
  • Isn't it hard to force the EU to buy our cars? Ford announced they'll stop making regular cars, and they don't want our gas guzzling SUVs? Or huge trucks. That's what part of this trade war is about fyi, our products that they don't even want. Interesting, but 10% vs 2.5% isn't exactly earth shattering on cars. Plus that article's talking about OBAMA'S proposed free trade not Trumps.

I'm thinking of starting an Apprentiship aT JLR after I finish my GCSEs this year, i was wondering if they offer discount rates on their cars through a company lease? (Such as a Ford Fiesta). I have friends parents who work for JLR and pay £400 a month for their Range Rovers etc…
