Does a ford galaxy run on a belt or chain?
I'm wondering if a ford galaxy 1.9 TDI Zetec Year 2000 W reg. Has a cambelt or a chain.
Whilst cam chains are still very much in use the 1.9 Diesel Galaxy has a BELT
If still in doubt then try looking for one to nuy on the internet - you will find them
It doesn't run on either. It runs on diesel.
But to answer your question, the cam is driven by a timing belt
@Phil, lots of companies use timing chains today. It is a chain which is more rugged, not a belt. Belts have certain advantages such as they are lighter, do not need to be lubricated, and they are more quiet. But the one big disadvantage is they are a maintenance item and they must be changed at a certain interval. A timing chain, even with those disadvantages, most often lasts the entire life of the engine.
Elastic band. You have to change it every 1000 miles or use the pedals. At 100,000 there's no floor left so you can Fred Flintstone.
Phone a Ford dealer who will tell you there and then what your car has.
Hi being a ford it is more likely it is a belt. As most fords are produced as cheap as possible. So you really can't afford to not do it as soon as possible.
I think chains stopped being used in the 80s
Certainly landrover went over to belts then and they're much more rugged
They're fun to do yourself.
- I have a ford 2001 ford Galaxy 2.3 petrol needing Electric Windows will only work from the the drivers side. I checked the wiring within the doors and repaired any broken wires but still nothing. The drivers switch has a child lock for the window but this doesn't make a difference if on or off. Is the anything els I can check? Could it be the drivers switch at fault? Looking for some simple tests I can check before I put money in to this. Cheers Paul
- How much does it cost to get timing chain done? Recently we bought a car 08 ford crown victoria at a car auction. It had a blown head gasket and we had a friend fix it for us, he put it all together and now car won't start. He thinks he did the timing chain wrong. Was wondering how much it would cost to take it to an actual mechanic to redo the timing chain. Also he thinks one of the heads are bad so how much would that cost as well?
- When to change timing chain and belt? When do you change timing chain and timing belt on a ford expedition V8? My dad has never changed them and I told him that he probably needs to already because it could be dangerous if he keeps driving it like that. The truck has almost 200,000 miles. And he has never had any problems with the engine. I just checked the owners manuel and it says just to inspect it at 120,000 but it never says when to replace it.
- Why does my ford escort run out of gas at a 1/4 of a tank? I own a 1992 ford escort lx 1.9L automatic. When I drive my car it's hard to always keep it filled up being a college student, however, if I let the fuel gauge drop below a 1/4 of a tank all sorta of crazy stuff happens. First of all and most important my car dies! It will sound like it's being starved of gas and bog out. Also if I make right turns then it stalls, I've done a lot of research trying to solve this problem and have come across some stuff but nothing solid.
