I compared the towing specifications of the F150 and RAM 1500 trucks and found that the most an F-150 will tow is 5,534 kgs when set up with an 3.5L EcoBoost, 3.55 axle ratio, and 3584 mm wheelbase.
the most weight a RAM 1500 will to is 4,826 kgs when set up with a 5.7L Hemi V8, 8 speed gearbox, 3.92 axle ratio and 2.4m box.
I then compared the F-450 and RAM 3500 (their most powerful trucks) and found that the F-450 can tow a maximum of 14,152 kgs when set up with a 4.3 axle ratio, 6.7L Diesel V8 and 5th wheel towing. And the RAM 3500 can tow 13,608 kgs when set up with with a 6.7L diesel V8, 2.4m box and both trucks using a 6 speed gearbox.
something interesting to note on the top of the line trucks is that they both have 6.7L diesel V8s that put out around the same amount of torque (860 lb*ft for the ford and 865 lb*ft for the RAM) but have very different hp ratings. The ford can put out 440 hp and the ram 385. This means ford has worked on improving torque at higher RPM which makes the truck more usable when accelerating.
to conclude my answer, no dodge truck do not tow more. It appears that Ford truck can tow more.
it's also fair to say that depending on how the trucks are equipped and for the price, a certain dodge truck could tow more than a Ford truck.
I live in a free state so the stickers on the door don't mean much. I have towed 6000 lbs with my 1500 Quad cab with 4.7L Magnum. It was fine. It would have been nice if I had trailer brakes, though. My son is wanting to put a 20,000-30,000 lb gooseneck behind his 2500 Megacab to see how it works. With the dual plate clutch, it should work fine. I have one Ford with a GVW of 20,000 lbs, but I will not load it over 19,500 lbs. My Chevy with 16,000 lbs GVW usually hits the scales at 19,000-21,000 lbs.

- Why can't powerful cars tow like trucks can? I don't know if this a dumb question, but I don't understand why you can't, I know you aren't supposed to but why. If my 230 hp Ford Ranger can tow 6000lbs, why can't the 845 hp dodge demon tow something, it has way more hp, way more torque and 2 more cylinders. Does it have something to do with the suspension not being able to hold the weight or what?
- My trucks bucked really hard and then ABS light came on? I've been having problems with my truck. It has sometimes where it bucks like a baby bull and I figured my clutch was slipping. The other day it did it and my abs flashed a few times then stayed on. I turned off my truck then back on and it went away. Could my electronics be tripping my abs system? It's an 03 Ford Ranger edge 5 speed with a 3.0l.

Mopars has brought out extreme amounts of muscle cars, trucks, SUVs, full size and mid size sedans. Other than cadillac is there any other American an brands coming to compete? Or is mopar going to compete with the raptor/Shelby for trucks or for small/hatchback against Ford and there focus st/r's?
