Actually, Ransom E Olds (Oldsmobile cars, REO cars and trucks) invented the automobile assembly line. Ford used the same basic idea, but automated it so the workers stayed in one place and the cars came to them.
If you hadn't slept through history class, Henry FORD pioneered the assembly line building of cars.
There was no Chevrolet when FORD started making cars.
