Car overheated / won't start now?

Van is a 99 Ford Windstar 3.0L. Had a bad water pump so I replaced it. Everything was running great after install, was just waiting for the coolant level to drop in the reservoir (lost fluid in the install). We drove the van into town, from experience I know it gets air in the coolant so the temp gauge will jump alittle. After it got to temp the van used no coolant at all from the reservoir. So we drove it alittle more, the temp gauge got as high as 3/4 but no higher, checked and again nothing from the reservoir. So now I suspect the pump is no good or belt is slipping. I attempt to drive the van home and half way back the car loses power, I then make a point to pull over and at that time the van shut off. The coolant was hot. Now the van cranks but won't start, I'm just praying the engine didn't seize. Any suggestions past what I already assume the engine is more than likely shot.

If it cranks it is not locked up

  • Why did my car start and die when put into gear? Now it won't start at all? It's a cold winter day (below zero) Car started right up! I let it run for about 2 minutes, I put it in gear and it just died. I figured it's cold out, not real surprising, but when I tried to start it again, it won't start! Turns over fine but engie won't start! Any ideas? 2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L
  • Car died while driving and now won't start? 2007 ford taurus… While driving oil light came on after a few miles the car died wile I was turning and now won't restart.battery is good car just clicks and motor won't turn over… Does this sound like a locked up motor?
  • My car overheated, power steering is out, and battery light is on? So for the last few days I have smelled a burnt smell when I turn on my heater, then today I was driving home and all of a sudden the power steering went out and the temp. Gauge was in the red. I went back out a few hours later when it had cooled down and turned it on, the power steering is still out and the battery light is on. There doesn't seem to be any leaks. What could be wrong? Oh, and I drive a 2003 Ford Focus ZX3.
  • Ford F-150 Truck started, ran rough. Now won't start at all. Any ideas? 1977 Ford F-150 with carburetor, 8 cylinders. After several attempts, it started immediately (without the usual starter crank-up sound), ran loud & rough like a lawnmower. I turned it off, now it won't start. Starter is strong, battery full, airfilter good, fresh fuel is reaching the carb. Weather is hot and slightly humid. Anyone have a guess?
