Car leaking oil, not sure if its from oil filter or transmission?
So I have a 1998 Ford windstar that broke down because the transmission just basically gave up on it. Anyway, before it broke down we gave it an oil change and it wasn't leaking any oil. After the transmission gave up, a couple months afterwards, it starts to leak oil. Could this be from the transmission or the oil filter? By the way, I know absolutely nothing about cars.
Transmission fluid has a red tint to it, engine oil doesn't. I can't determine what's leaking because I'm nowhere near your car
- Why did my 2000 Ford Windstar just blow all off the tranny fluid out. But now its not leaking anything? I drove it with a trailer attached all day then I dropped the trailer off and drove home. When a was turning on to my street the car violently shuck but kept going I pulled into my drive way and looked under my car and big puddle of tranny fluid everywhere. So I filled it up this morning and drove it 75 miles and when I got back I was still full on fluid and nothing was leaking. So WHY?
- Not sure which truck to get? I have to get a truck this winter but at the same time hoping I can save on gas a little. So i'm looking at a 96 ford ranger, 90 f 150, and an 01 ram 1500. I'm prioritizing the ranger because according to the internet it gets 20-26 mpg. Where as i know the ram and f150 would get terrible gas mileage. Do rangers actually get significantly better mileage or is it negligible? And which truck would you pick for reliability?
- My 2000 Ford Ranger 6 Cyl 3.0 L has been overheating. Pretty sure its a radiator problem but odd symptoms? Truck exhaust will puff moderate amount of white smoke (every now n again) on cold startup but will subside after engine warming up.Truck "Was" overheating until i put more coolant in but realised cap was steaming along with coolant reservoir (reservoir was also bubbling). So i bought a new radiator cap. I got a safety cap and after installing I drove a little and engine temp goes to red really fast. What could it be? Thermostat? Water pump? Blown head gasket?
- Power Steering Leak? Not sure how to fix? I have a 2009 Ford Focus, and one day my power steering got really tight, so I checked and it was low on fluid. So I filled it and a couple days late it was all gone. Then I found it: when I shut the engine off, all the fluid in the reservoir builds up and oozes out the cap. I'm certain I have the cap on all the way, and the o-ring looks to be in good shape. Is there anything I'm not thinking of? What are some remedies?
