Car doesn't have the fan wired up?
My '64 Ford Fairlane obviuously has a fan in the engine. However, the guy we bough it from built a whole new engine so the fan is run by -manually- connecting the fan wires to the car battery. Does anybody know how/what I need to do? Thanks.
Added (1). The engine is a 302 btw…
You need to find someone to help!
A 64 Fairlane NEVER had an electric fan in the engine compartment.
>>>EDIT EDIT EDIT<<<
A '64 Ford Fairlane also never was produced with a 302 engine in it. The most common was the 289, next the 390 is my guess, but they could also have had a 260, 352, or 427 from the factory. All of those had a fan (radiator cooling) that ran off the front of the water pump. Whoever did the motor swap on your car was either too lazy, or too uninformed (people get mad when I say dumb) to do a proper installation. My guess is, a later model engine with a threaded water pump hub was used and they either had no clutch fan so they tried an electric.
I would search through a salvage yard and find a direct drive fan that will fit your radiator shroud. I would also try and find the other errant (stupid) repairs they may have done.
I would suggest looking at summit racing catalog and ordering one of the fan controller kits. This will allow you to solve your problem of having to activate it by attaching the wires, after installing the kit it will be thermostatically controlled in other words when it gets to the preset temp the fan will activate
- P1744 code on a ford taurus? I know what it is and have change the TCC solenoid but the car still doesn't go? When put into gear. I also have changed the fluid due to it smelling burnt when the car just all of a sudden wouldn't go. Press gas and it just revs up. This is a 98 taurus.
- My car doesn't have a CARFAX value? Decided to check my VIN and it says "there's currently no CARFAX value for 1999 ford ranger"
- I have a Ford Ranger 4.0 and the AC doesn't blow very cool air. I want to add refrigerant for very 1st time, never have added to any vehicle? I'm using a gauge to test the pressure. With AC on max the needle moves between 25 and 45, the blue normal range. The compressor cuts on at 45 and off at 25. This happens continuously. The outside temp is 80 degrees. Not exactly understanding what I was doing, I added a little refrigerant and now the needle goes to 47 in the yellow range. Will this do any harm? Can I remove the excess refrigerant? If so, how? Is the system fully charged? If so, why isn't the air cooler?
- If you have enough money, can you have a new classic car built? Like can I pay to have ford build me a 1970 Mustang? Lets say I don't want to buy an old car and restore it, I want a 1970 but straight off the factory line. Can you have a car built with the old style frame, engine, trans, etc?
