Can Fully submerged truck be saved?
My daughter got drunk and drove her ford 2014 truck with engine running into a pond completely submerging it and leaving it running for a while. Can it be fixed and what am I looking at for cost?
Yes, it CAN be fixed. It will cost about 3 times what the truck is worth. If it is a 2014 model, then she should have full coverage insurance on it, and the insurance company would "total" the vehicle as too expensive to repair.
The trouble once it's been in water is even if you replaced all the parts that don't work or are damaged now, there's every chance that lots more electrical or mechanical issues will arise over time due to the water increasing corrosion of connections etc. Sounds like a very expensive life lesson for your daughter.
Your cost will be immeasurable. You are enabling your Daughter by cleaning up HER mess from driving while drunk. She could have killed someone besides the truck. C'mon. The truck will be hydra-locked as in new engine. Cut the cord and let her hit the bottom Daddy.
No one drove their vehicle into a pond and "leaving it run for a while". It died immediately when it sucked water into the engine and destroying it.
It didn't run for long if it was submerged. Call the insurance company.
No it's totaled. Need to be more careful with cars. I Feel bad for the dead car.
It will have a salvage title, and rightly so, as it will be a source of constant problems until it is finally crushed.
Insurance will total it. Good news is its freshwater so yes after replacing pretty much everything electronic and adding fresh fluids it will probably be fine. If it were saltwater, id say it was junk.
It can be fixed. New engine, new transmission, new interior: About $50,000.
Your question is best posed to your insurance company. Chances are it is totaled. Your bigger problem is your with your daughter. You are lucky only a truck was damaged and she didn't injure herself or others on the road. She is not mature enough to enjoy the privilege of driving. Get her a bus pass and a map of the transit system in your town and exchange them for her driver's license.
Your daughter got drunk, drove this vehicle and crashed it and your worry is about the truck? Really? That is your priority? And your first reaction is to grab the smartphone to text a message to this website? Triple Really?
A fully submerged truck doesn't run PERIOD.
If it remained running, that is a good sign. You may need fluids changed and an air filter but that depends on factors like how deep the water was.
Wow perfectly good new truck gone to waste. Some people just don't appreciate the things they have. My car is only a 2005 I would never do something stupid like drive it in a lake.
Even the tires will rust with time
Very expensive, after the insurance pays, you could buy it back for salvage, then dry it out. Replace many expensive items yourself.
Spend a week cleaning, blowing out, and vacuuming the mess if that was your kind of project.
I helped a guy do one that was flooded.
It was like new when we were through.
Auction price+ engine+ electronic brains etc + he bought beer.
