Can a cop buy his own private cop car?

Can a cop order his own cop car registered under his name from Ford or Dodge?

Or can he drive his department car only?

Why would a cop kill his own car. Every cop car I've ever seen after the cops have finished with it has had the absolute guts driven out of it were talking about cars no more than 3 years old.

The department car is covered under cop insurance, no private carrier would touch such a risk, and a cop car, fully equipped, is about $150k, and subject to upgrades. Some very small departments have cops that drive their cars home, but they are on call 24/7.

Yes he/she can. Many smaller communities Nation-wide use personal vehicles as 'Official' Police cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, bicycles, and horses.

He can buy the same model with the same equipment less the light bar, sirens, radio, etc. He CAN'T have police markings on a personally owned vehicle, or use it for patrol.

  • Can a police officer buy a brand new unmarked police car with out his department's Do Dodge and Ford sell their unmarked police cars to individual police officers if the officers directly contact Dodge or Ford? Or do they only sell their unmarked police cars directly to police departments? Happy Gramps You are wrong. Dodge and Ford have their factory equipped Charger and Ford Interceptor (Taurus) models with police packages
  • Is it illegal to drive a unmarked Ford Mustang SSP police car if I'm not a cop? Okay I found this nice 1993 Ford Mustang SSP police car. It's an unmarked police car used by the Florida Highway Patrol. It is still equipped with lights and sirens and my question is would I be arrested for impersonating an officer (because I'm NOT a cop) for driving a Ford Mustang SSP unmarked police car?
  • I'm looking to buy a 2002 Ford Mustang (automatic with 180k miles), are there any problems with it? Is it a good car to own? - 1 Everything checks out with the car, the engine works great, transmission is good, and my uncle (a former mechanic) says its in great shape and good for its price. A friend of mine told me that older Ford Mustangs have alot of problems and the car isn't worth it. Is this true? I've searched for hours and haven't found any information validating my friend s claim. Maybe someone who has owned the car or has worked on it has a better opinion for me. Any input would be helpful.
  • How to get a private seller to come down on a car price? Ford Mustang? This lady my friend knows is selling a 1998 ford Mustang for $3000. I'm going to look at it Monday and I think I might want it. But I want her to come down to $1700. I checked the blue book and it said $1500 should be it from a private seller. So she is selling it for to much. Or could I just pay what I have and then make payments on the rest? But what can I say to make her come down?
