Why is my truck hesitating while accelerating slowly but fast its fine?

I have a1984 ford bronco. I cleaned out my carburetor last night and now its hesitating to move slowly but when I floor it its fine.I'm hoping that there's some kind of air mixture problem

Did you change the base plate gasket? Did you get the dizzy hook to the wright port? Or you might try changing the dizzy vacuum to the other port, there's usually two one above the bottom buttery and one below. The one below well have vacuum all the time the one above well only have vacuum when throttle is opening and not at idle. Also make sure you have the kick down adjusted right.

Check your muffler bearings, they could be loose.

Be more specific when you say cleaned out the carb…

Float level adjustment of carb.
Idle mixture screw adjustment of carb.
Vacuum advance hose cracked or connected to wrong vacuum port on carb.
Vacuum leaks.
Blown power valve in the metering block.(Some Holley carbs)

Always correctly set timing before attempting any fine tuning of idle mixture screws, as timing effects engine vacuum signal to carb.

Another nice enhancement for it all around is to install Mr. Gasket pn 3404 spacer under the carb.

It is also possible you could have some dirt in the metering circuits of the carb. Bring the RPM up to a steady 3-4,000 RPM with vehicle in park, after engine is hot. While holding steady, take your hand and quickly slam shut the choke flap on the carb. Hold it shut for a second and then open the flap again. Let the engine clean itself out, as it took a BIG gulp of raw fuel when you slammed the choke flap shut.
What this does is vacuum flood the metering passages in the carb. The engine vacuum pulls fuel through these passages which often will flush out any small dirt that might be causing your issue.

In the future, Ultrasonic cleaning carbs is the ONLY way to go if you have access.

If this is a 4BBL carb, turn the carb upside down and make sure that the throttle blades are correctly set for the transfer slot openings. Most gasoline Holley carburetors will have the butterflies adjusted with a small length (approximately.020", looking like a square) of the idle transfer fuel slot visible below the bottom edge of the butterflies when closed. This setting is absolutely crucial for 4BBL Holley's to idle correctly and let you be able to tune idle mixture screws.

  • Why my car stops accelerating while driving? Have a Ford Fussion 2007. I was driving at about 40MPH and my car suddenly stops moving like if it was on neutral it accelerate by it self wth out moving even though it was on drive. I pulled over, turn it off and started again and it took me back home normally but now it did it again I took it to a mechanic and he put it in the computer but he says nothing is showing it seems that everything is ok but that car now is not moving! It only goes on reverse or low driving but not drive
  • Why is my 2001 Ford Escape not accelerating fast enough? I went on the freeway today, trying to get up to 75 mph and I could only get up to 65 mph for a while. My RPMs were going up faster than my actual speedometer, and my foot was on the gas, to the floor.
