Straight piping gasoline engine?

I have a 69 ford bronco Eddie Bauer model. Can I straight pipe it? What are the good and bad effects on that?

A 1969 won't require a cat (and probably won't even have one to start with), so there are no legal issues with removing it.

From a technical standpoint, there's no reason you have to have a muffler either. All they do is make the motor quieter. Local laws probably require you to have one, though. Fortunately, there are some very good performance mufflers on the market that add no more restriction to the exhaust system than a straight pipe, so you can have your cake and eat it too.

Eddie Bauer trim started in 1985.

Straight piping any gas engine can cause issues. Tune/adjust accordingly so you don't fry your top end.

You can but you also can get a summons for it being too loud.

  • Gasoline vs rich mixture LPG performance? Some people say LPG coverted cars loss of some performance i have weber carbureted ford pinto engine, single point LPG system i can say there's almost no difference at all with advanced timing, high octane LPG and for about 1sec. 4th gear pulling loss its worth for my savings. so, richen up mixture with LPG can reach gasoline performance?
  • Would a straight pipe sound good on my Ford Focus? Hi I've been doing some research on straight pipes and exhaust systems for my 2010 Ford Focus SES sedan. I don't wanna spend over $500+ on a full exhaust system. So that's out of the question. I was thinking a straight pipe by itself. I found one for $17.62 on Amazon. I want the "racing" sound. How much will installation cost and what would it sound like? A loud Mustang or truck? Send me a link to a video if possible or just answer.
  • Do straight talk phones work with connecting to a Ford Focus SE 2009? I tried connecting my phone to my wifes 2009 Ford Focus SE but it doesn't find it when turning Bluetooth on my phone which is a ZTE Majesty. My wife has a Samsung Proclaim and haven't tried it yet though. If they do work how can I connect it?
  • My husband has a 91 ford f150 4.9L straight 6. It's idleing high like 2000rpm what would cause that? He just replaced the valve cover gasket and changed the oil and filter. Its a manuel transmission and when he started it a back up it idled high. He tried replacing the idle air controller but that didn't help. Any suggestions
