Loud clicking noise when i try and start my car?
1990 Ford Bronco 2 manuel. I've been working on my bronco for awhile now ( it's got fuel issues either no pulse or fuel injectors are messed up) anyways. It tries to start fine just won't turn over. I got a noid light kit yesterday to check for pulse. I got my wife to turn the key like trying to start it, sounded like the battery was dying because it only tried to crank for a few seconds then nothing. I tried to jump it from my other car but it just started making a really loud tapping or clicking noise from around the area of the battery and fuse box. I disconnected the battery and just hooked my jumper cables straight from my good car to the bronco, same thing. All the lights and radio come on with no problem but whenever I turn the key it just makes a really loud tapping/ clicking noise non stop. I'm assuming if it was arching it would pop a fuse and not click more than a few times. I tried tapping my started but that didn't do anything. Any suggestions? It's been working totally fine before this.
RSounds like you've run down your battery with all the work you've been doing.
The clicking is from the starter solenoid trying to send battery power to your starter. However, your battery is weak, not charged, or the cable connections are loose/corroded and not able to supply the high current required. Your lights and radio would still work because they don't require the high current that your starter requires.
You need to charge your battery, replace your battery, or clean/tighten your battery cable connections. Buy a charger first and check the cable connections.
Why do people say this? " It tries to start fine just won't turn over" when will people learn what " turn over " means? It totally screws up the whole question.
- 2001 Ford Ranger clicks once then won't turn over, and when key is turned off, it begins making a clicking relay noise under the dash? - 1 I've had this happen before, and the last couple times I just undid the battery and put it back in and it started right up. The battery has a charge, the alternator is new, and I tried jumping the battery just in case. So I know it's not that. I'm thinking it could be something in the ignition switch because sometimes I have to lift up on the shifter knob for it to register that it's in park and turn over. Any ideas?
- I'm in high school and about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car So far I have looked into ford mustangs, I have a choice between a 2007 ford mustang gt with a 8 cylinder motor with automatic transmission, or I can get a 2013 mustang v6. My question is which of the two cars is a faster and louder car cause I would like to show it off and have heads turn by its engine as I drive off on the street. Thank you very much about to get my first car looking for a loud, fast and good looking car?

- I bought an Actron CP9125 Code Reader to try and diagnose a rough idle at cold start on a 98 Ford 4.0 engine. The rough idle had not caused? The CEL to come on. I plugged the code reader in with just the key on and pressed read and the little asterisk goes half-way across the screen one time and stops. I press the read button again and it reads 0 codes. I was thinking it would scan multiple times to check for pending codes or other issues. I tried it with the engine running and the same thing happens. Is this code reader operating properly?
