I put my jumpers on backwards and now won't do nothing?

Ok, I have a 1983 Ford Bronco
5.0L Gasoline engine 4X4
3 speed Automatic.

This happened at night and did not have good lighting. I hooked up the jumper cables backwards and now it will not do nothing. So, now I turn to you for help. What do I do to resolve my problem?

Check all your fuses. There's a good chance that the only fusible link for the truck has blown, it's locates between the alternator and the starter solenoid. This link will show you the location:

Check the "Fusible links" located at the starter solenoid + terminal!I put my jumpers on backwards and now wont do nothing

On the rely, you have two types of power. One is powered all of the time. That is the one that has a wire going back to the battery. The other is switched power, for lack of a better term. You have a pic in this group that should really help. As long as the battery was disconnected while you did the work, i would not worry about fuses or fusible links just yet. Reversed cables will blow a main fuse in a heart beat and potentially the alternator.

You may have burned out the regulator

Trickle charge battery, check fuses, if fuses fine and battery won't charge need new battery, if charges, you're ok, still check fuses

Try jumping it properly or get a new battery
