Do Ford cars ever break down?

My dad has a 1981 Ford Bronco with a 550k miles on its clock and still running like new. It never failed us even once even though my dad abuse it…

They do break down, just like any other car. That Bronco is very impressive though.

They break down just I guess you guys got lucky. Back then some cars were built better than others.

Yes you like Ford's. No one gives a ****

Of course they do. You know about the horrible transmission issues that plagued the Taurus lineup? I have the 2001 model and so far I'm lucky that I don't have any issues w/ the transmission. On the other hand, it doesn't blow hot air… It has about 188k miles on it.

Hi Many pf the so called 4x4 fords are not Fords at all. They are Japanese Mazda's.

All cars break down if not regularly serviced. Correctly maintained and with components renewed when needed cars go surprisingly long times. There's still a certain amount of luck in life but we have examples of an old Volvo 1800 having completed a million miles on same engine ( currently being used daily in usa)
it is well known lots of short distance travelling and many starts and stops do reduce significantly life on any car. There was an old Ford used in UK ( petrol van) for over 500.000 miles.it got traded in. Ford strippe sit and checked for wear.it held up with cars of around 5-6 years old. Spent most of its life moving on highway. Always warm engine as used both day and night driving 5 days a week but always serviced fully.
highway steady state driving gives least wear rates. Heavy acceleration and harsh driving reduces life of components. Excess rams will also reduce life span. Even so, no specific reason one car will outlast another built at same time.

Honestly, We beat the hell out of our 2014 fusion in the 2 years we owned it, didn't even change the oil but twice in the entire time we owned it, got it with 27331 miles and turned it in with 58k or so, never had a problem.

  • Why are some Ford cars (like the Taurus and Focus) such unreliable cars? I'm looking at cars in the $3000 - $4500 range and I'm noticing a decent amount of Ford Taurus's and Focus's and out of all the cars that I see, these are two cars that just seem so unreliable. I test drove a Focus last year and it sounded like something was wrong with the engine.
  • Need options on a break cylinder job for a 03 ford Taurus car? Need a few pointers and options on a car. So the break cylinder was bad and it got replaced. But it's still leaking a little fluid (not as much before it was replaced) and the car won't stop at all. Does the breaks need bled or what? The car won't stop period and it was driven for a bit with the cylinder bad. Is there a chance a lot of air is in the break lines and need bled? But would that make it leak a little fluid from the cylinder? Just need some options on what to do next.
  • My 1999 Ford Taurus jumps a little bit when I put on a break what could that be? My 1999 Ford Taurus transmission went out all of the sudden and I've never had a problem with it. I put on a break and when I went to mash the gas, it would not go. What could the problem be
  • Break problems in my Ford Taurus 1999? I think I might need to bleed my breaks but I'm not sure. I'll push my breaks all the way to the floor and it still won't stop completely. It still slowly stops as if I'm barely pushing on them. And the pressure is really hard. So I have no idea, what do I need to do?
