Are VW cars made by ford?
I'm curious to know if they are even part ford part gm themselves? Since the audi cars are shared with bmw and bmw/audi/ are owned by ford? And shared with vw and their line of products, does that mean that they are owned by ford or not?
Added (1). isn't renault owned by gm though?
Added (2). does anyone have any clue?
Barnes is correct. VW also own Skoda.
NO! Ford has NO part or interest in VW. Audi cars ARE NOT "shared" with BMW.
Don't get confused by what a local, independently owned dealership offers for sale. Just because ONE dealer sells Audi, BMW and Ford products off the same lot DOES NOT mean they are connected at the corporate level.
Ford owns Lincoln
GM owns Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC, and overseas, Opel, Vauxhall, and Holden.
Audi is part of the VW group
BMW is not owned by another auto manufacturer.
Renault is partnered with Nissan and both are run by one CEO
Absolutely not. Automakers tend to keep to themselves unless we're talking about a joint venture model (Ex. Toyota Matix/Pontiac Vibe) or badge engineering within an automaker (Ex. Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade). For VW, VW, Audi, and Porsches share parts and are similar in design because they all fall under the VW group umbrella.

- Why would people buy older foreign cars instead of brand new American cars? I see it all the time, people driving 7-8 year old Mercedes or BMWs that they paid probably paid around $20,000. They could of easily gone out and bought a brand new Ford or Dodge, but they didn't. They bought a Mercedes with over 100k miles. All worn and torn on the inside. But aslong as they're shining on the outside I guess.
- What's the first car you owned and best 4 cars made in your country? 1. First car I owned was a Ford mercury sedan left by a ww2 pilot at our farm. We used it on old farm road and in fields learning to drive Riley Pathfinder Morris minor 1953 with split window Austin 16 used by British Military Ford Popular
- Why are some Ford cars (like the Taurus and Focus) such unreliable cars? I'm looking at cars in the $3000 - $4500 range and I'm noticing a decent amount of Ford Taurus's and Focus's and out of all the cars that I see, these are two cars that just seem so unreliable. I test drove a Focus last year and it sounded like something was wrong with the engine.
