Are Some Actors Lucky?

Are some actors lucky to become big stars?

For example in Star Wars (1977), Harrison Ford was an unknown but he became a huge star, yet Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamil didn't come close

One of my mother and father's favourite films is The Warriors (1979) and she was surprised that apart from James Remar (Ajax), she had never seen any of the other actors in anything.

Are some actors lucky to become famous off the back of a famous film like Ford from Star Wars or Gibson from Mad Max, yet others in the same film aren't? They are lucky to be in anything else significant?

I'm sure sometimes luck comes into it, however they say "the harder you work the luckier you get" however networking is important, being in the right place at the right time sure helps

Some actors just stand out and others fade into the background.
I have always been a fan of James Remar and have seen him in many things.

BTW, I thought you ranted yesterday about leaving, for good, once and for all, the forum.
Couldn't stay away, huh?

You really do need to get help with your mental issues.

Luck is sometimes a consideration, but talent, training and resolve have a lot more to do with finding fame. Most actors don't set out to get famous they act because they love acting.

Most actors work for years and then get cast in a role that brings them renown. Solo is one of the more interesting roles in SW. Ford had a solid resume going into the film having been cast in several films and TV shows for over a decade.

I remember both Ford and Fisher from earlier films they did wasn't too surprised to see them in SW. Ford when on to introduce me to the very talented Alfred Molina. His role in Raiders of the Lost Ark which was only his 2nd feature length film. I remember sitting in the theater riveted by his strong performance in a small role and thinking
"who is that?!" He has built a very solid career since then.

Luck is only a very small part of any profession.

You just bought the Harrison Ford press bio. This is the PR version of his life, so quit being a sucker. He did a lot of work and was in no way an unknown. You've been reading PR packets as if they are all true, rather than a sculpted narrative for people who aren't journalists to repeat.

Carrie Fisher had a major career, hampered by the fact she was a woman in hollywood.

As for the Warriors. Deborah Van Valkenburgh had along running tv show, a movie career, and a television acting career after her sitcom. David Patrick Kelley had a similar career.

I think three actors doing really well from a minor b movie is about average. The actors from this movie got numerous roles, which you'd likely be acquainted with if you watched a lot of 70s tv shows or movies.

As for Gibson, Mad Max was merely an early film Gallipoli and Year of Living Dangerously were the critically acclaimed ones which made him famous. So I dispute your "wondrous birth from schlock movie premise.

No they just get reconized by what they where in

Are you serious? Carrie Fisher was as close to Hollywood royalty as a performer could be.

Eddie Fisher plus Debbie Reynolds----but you're probably young to understand this.

Yes. Some because they can actually act, others because the public is blind to the fact that they can't.
