About a 6.7 litre Ford diesel V-8?

It was consuming coolant. And locking up, filling cylinders. First I replaced the EGR cooler, that was not the problem. Noticed there was coolant coming from the right side exhaust manifold. Took it apart, sent the heads to the Machine shop.
I put it back together, With new rocker arms, glow plugs, injection tubes, of course new gaskets, and damn it! It's doing the same thing again. Please don't tell me I screwed up the install, I have done quite a few before, Just not this engine. What else can the problem be?

Added (1). Any Real Ford Diesel guys out there?

Added (2). Please read the question and answer if you think you actually have a serious answer.

Probably the radiator cap. Or maybe the water pump.

Ask yourself "Is there any other way than via the head gasket coolant can get into the combustion chambers?

I'm not familiar with that engine, but does it have any water connections on the inlet side?

>google<
From what I can find, it may have a water-cooled intercooler! That would be a prime suspect, any leak there's going to feed water straight in to the engine.

You fixed one thing, now fix the other 3 or 4.

  • Why was the 3.8 litre v6 1989 Essex engine so bad? I have an 89 ford thunderbird with the above engine in it. It only gets 140 hp and 215 ft pounds of torque? Like what the heck. Is the fuel computer just calibrated to a lean fuel air ratio? Is the stroke really short? Is it just highly ineficient? I would greatly apreciated if someone could shed some light on this. 3.8 litres is a lot of engine, am I mistaken in assuming that it should be better than it is?
