A question for Baby Boomers?

This is a list of what I do for a living.

I Drive for Uber and Lyft.
I Deliver food for Door Dash, Bite Squad and Grub Hub.
I sell Footwear on Amazon and E Bay.
I Sell Snacks and Drinks out of a Shopping Cart.
I do marketing at home through being an Associate for various companies.

It's a lot.
But it works and fits together.

This is what I have.

I have a 3 bedroom rental luxury townhouse with a Garage.
I have a Ford Ecosport.
I have fashion Clothing from Dillards.
I have Work Clothes from Wrangler workwear.

I have Ashley Furniture.
I have Sony Electronics.
I have Apple computers.

I have organic groceries from Whole Foods.

I have a Labrador, and two Abyssinians.
And 20 Clownfish.

Here's my question.

Why do I get so much criticism for what I do for a living…

And.
Why should I do something for a living that you STILL run, trapped in your trickle down economics…

When Most of what I do.
Is about the new economy based on the internet and digital service?

And is providing me with the good life that you have?

I understand that people need doctors and lawyers. Of course…
But the fact is, is that you dominate these sectors of the market.

I have bills today.

I only worked one job at a time and it was always a high tech job. I was born in 1951 which makes me a Baby Boomer.

We all do what we HAVE to do to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. Work is work. It doesn't matter whether it is an office job, an outdoor job or a portfolio of jobs like yours. You have options that were not around for my generation. I see no reason to criticise you for exploiting the opportunities made available by technology.

No one knows what the future will hold and what opportunities will vanish while new ones appear. Look what happened to phone sanitisers and comptometer operators… You've probably never heard of either, right? Some people, like you, are adaptable and will grab work opportunities. The drawback may be that it offers no career path, no chance of promotion and is unlikely to earn you the big bucks. If you can manage well on what you earn while providing for your heath, family and your old age, you have no reason to change anything.

What you do seems to rely 100% on 'trickle down' economics. People with money spend it on things other people provide. We all 'trickle down' to each other when we spend our money.

There's always a generational succession in the professions. New, younger professionals fill the spaces caused by expansion of services and the retirement or career change of older workers. You could have been part of that so I think it is a cop-out to blame the baby boomers for dominating these professions. In a few years time YOUR generation will dominate in these sectors and you have chosen not to be apart of it. That's OK. It was your choice to make.

We ALL make choices in life. Then we live with the consequences of our choices. If your choices work for you, you are doing OK and I see no reason to speak badly of your portfolio career.

What do your jobs have to do with baby boomers? I find it hard to believe you have a nice income and people are criticizing you for what you do for a living. How many people criticized you? One or two?

I admire your work ethic!

You're a hard worker with a lot of irons in the fire.

I would guess that the complaint has been something like "they're not real jobs." Well they are real jobs of course; they just don't conform to the types of careers that were once the norm. My advice to you is don't worry about it. Do what you do, and do it well.

Every job you listed

You should get three more jobs and buy a house. That'll show them!

More power to you
I know you will never get a dime of my money because I don't use any of the BS services you provide

  • Why did companies become so greedy once Baby Boomers started running them? Henry Ford believed in paying his employees a fair living wage. Walmart believe in paying 9 dollars a hour
  • Question about ford crown victoria fuel tanks? I have a 2001 crown victoria police interceptor. I'm trying to install a new fuel tank. Problem is that the new tank has a different style hole on top for the pressure valve regulator. Can I just use the newer style regulator that will fit the new tank or some kind of adaptor for the stock valve? Does anyone know where I can find a tank like the original, it has a recessed hole with tabs for that valve?
  • Need to know about registering the birth of my baby? Just make sure if we can put our daughter surname "Jones"? Because my surname is Ford and my partner's surname is Mason-Jones. We not married yet, will married in the future.
  • My question is about storing a car outside in the winter for a few months? I live in northern Minnesota but I always go south for the winter for about 3 or 4 months. I've got a 2001 Ford Mustang V6 with a hundred and thirty-five thousand miles. I'm planning on leaving it in a friend's backyard for the winter. Is there any precautions I can take in order for the vehicle to not be dead upon my return. I heard turning it on and letting it run once a week will help?
