99 ford contour front shake while braking?
Dug into my front end after my rack and pinion went out, i put a new rack and pinion, new tie rods, new ball joints, new sway bar with new bushings and new sway bar links, new strut mounts with new strut bearings.new control arms and new bushings new rotors and new pads, torqued everything to spec but when i brake i get a shake from the front end just like i had before, was thinking calipers or front tire out of balance, thanks for the input
It is either the tires (balance, tread separation, bad rotor), or you missed something during the installation.
Your rotors are warped. Pretty simple fix, really.
You seem to have covered everything except alignment. If toe or caster is out of spec's, it will sometimes cause a front end shake when braking as tires try to find center track with each other.
THE ROTORS NEED TO BE TURNED
- What causes vibration and skidding tires while braking? I have a 1997 ford aerostar, and it runs beautifully. The only issue is the brakes. I had the brake lines, calipers and front left wheel bearing changed. The brake pedal goes down pretty far before activating the brakes, and a lot of times if i apply a little too much pressure they don't work and i just start skidding. Also, if i'm going fast and start slowing down the van vibrates pretty violently. What could cause this, and estimate how much to repair?
- Vibration/thumping in front suspension. More than likely.drivers front 2002 Ford Sport Trac Vibration/thumping. More speed, the more it vibrates, shakes, and makes the thump thump thump sound. Passenger side mirror shows no sign of movement… Drivers side mirror shakes quite a bit. No noticeable noises other than the thumping. No hard pulling to either side in steering wheel. No difference when braking. Any input would be very much appreciated!
- Just pulled front brakes of 96 ford ranger xl and now scraping noise while driving? Pulled front brakes off my truck to see how wore out they were because they were squeeling put them back on perfectly no hassle and now when I drive I hear a horrible scraping noise on right front passenger side but I stop on a dime and my brakes don't get hot or smell I'm so confused please help?
- How car braking system work? I have a question about how does car/van stop while applying brake. I have ford freestar which have 4 disc brake system. It run only with two front wheel which are connected to transmission or engine. So my question is when I apply the brake pedal, the brake are apply only on front 2 wheels or also on rear wheel?
