$699 processing fee at ford dealership in virginia?

This is about to be my 3rd car i get from a dealership and everytime i go to a dealer the fee is higher and higher. I never tried to negotiate the Fee price but i was lookin at things online and came across people saying they talk them out of it or talk the dealer down on the fee and i didn't even know you could do that lol. Have any of you ever got out of paying the processing/dealership fee? Plus any advice on how to bring the dealer down on the car price too

You are more likely to get the processing fee (which is simply extra profit for the dealership) reduced or eliminated if you are bargaining for a less-desirable auto model. If it's one that's in high demand, they are unlikely to negotiate with you, since they can sell it easily to someone else at the higher price.

Flat out tell them to drop the price or you are walking out the door. This is your money and cars are just a commodity, there are millions of them out there. Don't be pushed around. So what if you don't get that car, they aren't going to start making them. Gee, don't be a sucker.

How to bring the dealer down? Give them your demands and if they say no, thank them for your time then turn your back and head out the door. They don't want to see that happen, so will keep luring you back with various "carrots". Literally everything is negotiable from price to delivery fees, to processing fees, to "dealer prep" fees. The only thing not negotiable is a loan initiation fee, but you don't need to finance through the dealer. On any new car the salesman has a range of about $2000-$3000 to play with on commission, from making that as pure profit, or sending the car out the door for what they'll claim is a no-profit wholesale price. But they still get dealer kickbacks for moving product. If you can't get them to knock $500 off the processing fee, you're not trying hard enought. Like I said, stick to your guns and head out the door.

Sure. You simply say you have already made enough profit and it you charge that to me. I'm not buying… And be wiling to walk out

Very simple, Refuse to accept that fee. If they tell you that they have to charge it (which they do not) tell them the simple solution is to take the fee off the selling price of the car and then they can add it back. If they refuse, get up and walk out.

If after they try to get you back and agree to waive the fee, tell them that seeing as they lied to you, you want another $250 off the price.

The best way to avoid the fee and save thousands on a newer car is to avoid dealerships and buy from a private party.

I'm a retired very low end car dealer. I charged $19.50 and later $29.50 doc fee and was amazed that so few people balked at paying it.

But once I started charging it, I ALWAYS charged it. In a few cases where the buyer refused to pay it, I would just lower the price of the car by the $20-30 but still charged the doc fee. I wasn't going to lose a sale over it.

But, for $699, that could very well be the difference between selling it or not.

Its really simple, if you don't want to pay for the expensive dealership with bright lights & lots of employees, avoid them. No private parties charge doc fees or processing fees. And the car is likely to be thousands less too.

I always tell the dealer I'm only discussing the drive it away price. That is, the amount on the check. If there are other charges they have to figure out the breakdown themselves. Though sometimes I will accept the sales tax being separate. But doc fees and the rest have to be in the negotiated price.

As well if they did anything like scotchguard or special polish or something already on the car before I look at it and try to get money for those, I refuse to pay a dime extra. They either eat those add ons or they get me another one where they have not already done those thingd.

A dealer has at least a 4000.00 markup if not more, from the asking price. And negotiating down the price is up to each individual.
