2003 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor stuck in first gear?
Recently got my transmission rebuilt due to it being able to reverse but having problems taking off in drive. Now after rebuilding the trans the car will not go out of first gear. Mechanic who rebuilt it said its not the trans thats causing it because he fully rebuilt it. Could something have went wrong in the rebuild? Could he have put a wrong part or something? Could it be the BRAIN in the car causing it? I've had electrical problems in the past where the heat & headlights would go out & come back on sometime later but i've found out that the problem with the headlight was the LCM which i haven't got changed yet. Also my speedometer stopped working before i needed my trans rebuilt but the car was still able to drive without it but still felt like it wasn't shifting right like it should have. When they broke down the trans they said the trans was somewhat all around bad but the 1st gear was BURNT OUT the worst i guess.
If you know any info on this car or know what MAY be the problem… LET ME KNOW.
Well I guess it is time for you to go to the Ford dealer, he has a computer your fly by night trans shop doesn't have and he can run tests on the shift solenoids.
Yea its his fault he didn't do something right. Surprised he would try it most mechanics wouldn't touch a transmission ( or he replaced it with junkyard trans and that is no good ). Find local shop at ATRA.COM for more help and call the mechanic and tell him you're having the shop look at it and if they find the problem he's paying for it
Not up on crown vics.
lets assume for a minute the trans was rebuilt properly,
you don't have a speedo! And this has an auto trans. Connection there!
i can guess the pcm uses VSS input, in part, to monitor and control the trans. Specifically shift point changes. W/o the input from the VSS-vehicle speed sensor (or what ever it's called on this), the pcm maybe protecting the drive train and won't allow for any shift changes. Sort of fail safe limp mode. Just to get to help.
i agree with JJ. Dealer!
- Whorling/ Swirling noise coming from 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor I have a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. It is an EX State Trooper Car. When I drive it, the car makes a whorling/swirling kind of noise, it isn't loud like a wheel baring but you sure can notice the sound. Also it seems like when the two front tires fully rotate, they act like they (or one of them) are going into a small hole.
- Where can I buy a Ford Police Interceptor? I just got my license and I need to buy myself a car. And I don't want to bu anything really fancy or expensive, and I heard the crown victoria interceptor is pretty cheap like 1k or 1.5k for a 2004 model. But were do you buy it from?
- Can I replace a 1991 5.4l ford expedition engine with a 4.6l ford crown Victoria police interceptor engine? I have a expedition that was ran out of oil so it needs a new engine, we also have a 4.6l police interceptor that runs great. So I'm wondering if it can be done and what other work would also be needed?
- Crown Victoria Police Interceptor good first car? I'm 15 right now, currently in drivers ed. I turn 16 in December and I've always wanted a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor since I was a little kid. I'm wondering if they are good first cars, and any tips for buying them on craigslist. I know the gas mileage but how would insurance be, what's the lowest insurance I could get?
