Dead battery if it won't crank.
It's 38 years old. It qualifies as an antique car. The battery is bad, or the starter is bad, or that small body ground wire coming off the battery is broken.
Can be a few things. Start by checking battery. We can try a jumpstart from another car ( with its engine running -wait 1 min after connecting before trying to crank) if unsure condition of battery. Do check all connections for corrosion .loose.broken leads. We may have a stuck solenoid. Often a heavy tap with a mallet or 2lb hammer can effect cranking while somebody holds ignition key in start position.
other issues can be failed starter motor. Ignition switch issue. Fuse blown.
check at starter motor solenoid with a 12v tester or lamp. See if solenoid gets power? Check fuse(s) and cables if none. By having a decent battery at hand. Fully charged we can check each part of circuit and even ( best to know what we're doing here so expert mechanic is best) jump power direct to starter for a test function.
are we sure engine itself is OK? Have we tried turning it over by hand?
