Why does my 1989 Ford Capri start for no reason, without a key?

Added (1). For a while it now its made a weird noise when i start her up but i just change gears or engage the lights and the noise stops. But today I put the key in and turned on the electricity to put up the windows, then pulled out the key and the car started and made this gnarly grinding sound, worse than usual. So i put the key back in and tried turning the car off but the ignition was already off and no matter what i did i couldn't turn it off until i put it in reverse and it died automatically.

Defected ignition switch. Btw: Have you ever heard the song "Capri ces't finis" Lol

I was inside watching tv about 4 hours after i left the car. All of a sudden a hear a car really close start up and the engine starts making the grinding sound that mine makes. Turns out it was my car. It started outta the blue 4 hours later. Wtf

Could be a bad solenoid. Disconnect the battery to get it to stop starting

The ignition switch on the 87-93 Mustangs are notorious for having this problem. There was actually a recall on this switch years ago.Id say its the ignition switch(mounted to steering column)Not the ignition key lock cylinder.Remove the trim from steering column and you'll see a white plastic/metal part mounted with sheer bolts with a large wiring harness attached
