Cummins engines are great, but the rest of the truck offten goes to sh*t fast. With Powerstrokes, the 7.3 was a great engine, the 6.0 sucked, the 6.4 not terrible not great, and the 6.7 pretty good. Ford bodies tend to hold up better than Dodge. Personally I'd go with a Duramax great engine, amazing transmission and the rest of it holds up pretty well too( except the 01-02 body style has some body rust issues).
Cummins by far has been around the longest and you can't beat the durability of a inline 6 engine with all the supportive bearings holding the crank stable.
