Why does my car make a humming noise then shut off when it's too cold?

Every time I go out, as soon as I start driving it makes this humming noise and my engine will start to act up and shut off. It's annoying because this usually happens, most often in cold weather. I let my car warm up for at least 7 minutes but it has no effect. I've tried putting power steering fluid and also used gas treatment but that doesn't seem to do anything either. I've put more anti-freeze in and still doesn't work. Does it need an oil change or something? Please help me out.

I have a 2004 Ford Taurus by the way.

Your car engine hums so you put power steering fluid in? What?

You need a mechanic not a oil change. That shows what you know about engines so stop wasting time and money and have someone that knows what they are doing have a look at it.

  • Why does my car shut off with too much pressure on the steering wheel? I have a 1990 Ford Tempo. I replaced the ignition to starter cable on it, as it would randomly shut off when taking a hard right due to corrosion on it. However, it still randomly shuts off when too much pressure is applied to the steering wheel. I was suspecting that maybe it is the ignition switch, but I don't have the money to go to a mechanic at the moment. Has anyone else had this problem? And how was it fixed?
  • Why does my cold air intake make my car super slow? I bought a cold air intake for my 2015 ford taurus put it on and lost power alot of power. I didn't use the normal air intake tubing i stayed with the tubing that comes in the car and put a filter at the end and reconnected the one sensor. Now my friend did this to his car and it gave him more power i don't know why mine loses power
  • My car door won't stay shut in the cold? I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. Last year, and a couple of times so far this year whenever I open the door, and try to shut close. It won't close or shut completely, sometimes when its very cold, if your on the inside you can push the door(s) open without touching the door handle. I was told to use WD-40. I was wondering where to spray it, and if there's anything better out there?
