What are the signs that a transmission is ready to fail?
I have a 1995 Ford Taurus with 193,000 miles and a transmission that has never given me any problems. I keep hearing that it's about 50,000 miles overdue to go. Will I get any clues before the car leaves me stranded somewhere?
Several abortive attempts to get the forward clutch piston to stop cracking were fixed in 1995 by using a steel piston instead of an aluminum one. You should be okay.
