I have a 2002 Ford Taurus that won't start?
It started one minute, I drove home. Later that night it just wouldn't start. It cranks and tries but fails. The pump turns on. I'm assuming it's not getting fuel. My question is what could cause it to not start. Or what would prevent fuel from getting to the engine beside the injectors and the fuel filter
If you hear the pump running for a few seconds with ignition on, it could still be a weak fuel pump, bad pressure regulator, clogged filter, injectors not firing properly, etc. Or other issues can cause a no start… Spark or timing issues, blown fuses for ignition circuit, etc… Check all fuses first and make sure none are blown… Swap the pump relay with another similar one and see if the car starts… Bad relay. Check for problems with security system… Try a spare key.
You can try spraying some carb cleaner…(sold at parts stores). Into the throttle body or a manifold vacuum port on the engine and see if it will start briefly… If it does, then it's a fuel related issue. If not, then more likely a spark or timing issue… Bad cam or crank sensors, bad coil or module, computer issues, blown fuses or bad relays, etc.
Make sure the fuel safety cutoff switch is not tripped.reset if needed. Usually located in right side of trunk behind the liner or under dash in right lower footwell area in the car interior… See owners manual for exact location and how to reset.
If fuel related. Check for proper fuel pressure with a pressure tester… Parts stores sell or rent them. If pressure is low, check the filter or replace it and retest. If still low, then the pump may be failing or other issues… Low voltage at pump/corroded wiring/bad ground wire, etc… Pull the vacuuum hose off of the regulator and check for fuel in the hose… If there's fuel residue, the regulator has a torn or cracked diaphram… Replace. You can check if injectors are firing properly with a Noid light… Sold at parts stores.

- 2000 ford taurus, is really hard to start, when it does start it idles really rough? 2000 ford taurus, is really hard to start, when it does start it idles really rough until completely warm, we replaced 4 coils and at first it helped but has returned just as bad.
- 2002 ford ranger wants to start but won't? I took the truck threw a mud hole. Made it threw then truck stalled. I got it to start back up but it was blowing out some smoke so friends convinced me to just let it sit and dry. I did that and now it won't start at all. It acts like it wants to but just won't.
