1999 Ford Taurus overheating problems?
I have a 1999 Ford Taurus with the 3.0 OHV engine. Recently, it has been overheating, mainly when pushed more then normally. For example, we will be going down the freeway at about 75 for 30 minutes and the Guage will be fine until we park and shut it off. Then it overheats and the Guage is at the red. There are no visible leaks or hose damage and the heater doesn't blow out hot air. I changed the radiator cap. I'm thinking bad head gasket, thermostat, or heater core. Is there a definitive way to find it before the engine quits?
If your heater does not blow hot you are either LOW on Coolant or you have a weak water pump. Near Beaumont, TX?
- Which car is the overall to keep for a couple of yrs? 1999 Nissan maxima, 1999 Altima, 2006 ford Taurus or 2002 buick lesabre? All of them have low mileage as the Taurus have 69000 and the maxima have the highest of 123000. They all under 1100 bucks.
- My '06 Ford Taurus is having what i'm assuming transmission problems, any ideas? The other day while attempting to back up a small slope, my engine revved up and a message came on the info area of my dash saying to check the transmission. I turned off the car, turned it on and the check engine light was on. I go home and check the trans fluid and it's full. The next day I start my car and the check engine light is off, but now my car shakes on heavy acceleration and gear changes. I'm not a car person. Any ideas?
- Break problems in my Ford Taurus 1999? I think I might need to bleed my breaks but I'm not sure. I'll push my breaks all the way to the floor and it still won't stop completely. It still slowly stops as if I'm barely pushing on them. And the pressure is really hard. So I have no idea, what do I need to do?
- 2004 ford taurus problems? I have a 2004 Ford Taurus. I'm having jerking issues with it. I can drive it to a couple of places around town, then once I stop at a stop sign or red light it start to jerk. It want jerk while I'm driving. Just after a stop. Then check transmission light come on. I know it's not low on fluid, and the fluid is not dirty. Can someone please help with this.
