Ford ranger hopping/studdering when turning in 4wd?
So the roads are really icy and slick and have snow on them. I always turn my 4wd on cause I have no chance of any traction in 2wd. I know never to use 4wd on pavement, but these are ice covered roads. Still, whenever I make a tight turn, there's a weird like groan noise, and te vehicle hops and studders forward. Why is this happened on even icy and snowy roads? I can't just put it in 2wd cause my tires will just spin.
You either have more traction under the wheels than you think or, you have a limited slip differential that is shuddering. You can get LSD additive to cure that.
Different size tires on the vehicle can do that.
- How to fix low drive on my Ford F150 if the 4WD knob is broken? I got stuck in a ditch today and I got using 4L. The knob to select it was broken when i tried to turn it to 4L, I looked in my truck and found pliers which I used to turn it. When I pulled out of the ditch I used the pliers to turn it but it wouldn't move. My friend gave it a try and he turned it but the dash lights flickered then went off and it said we were still in 4L then the "low drive" light lit up. How do i fix it?
- Ford F-150 4WD conversion? I have a 2010 F-150 Fx2 Sport model. If you take price completely out of the equation, except if it would cost buying a new truck, is it actually possible to have someone change and upgrade it to that of an Fx4 and give it a 4x4 option?
