Cylinder misfire in my ford ranger?

I've had my truck (1998 ford ranger V6 3.0L) run very rough off and on for the past few months. During the time where it did run rough, it seemed to run rough when coming to a stop and a little less rough after accelerating for a few seconds. I specifically remember 3 times where it began running rough after making a slow turn. This running rough, would sound like the engine is running at a low RPM, and almost like something was loose in the engine causing it to run unbalanced, hence obviously making my truck shake with the engine. During these times, the check engine light wouldnt come up. This probably happened about 4-5 times. The last time it happened, the check engine light actually went on, and it came up on my obd2 reader as a cylander 1 misfire. I got my spark plug replaced, my coil pack replaced, and my fuel injectors replaced before the check engine light came on, so its likely not those, unless the mechanic did a bad job. Does anyone know what else can be possibly causing this? My mechanic told me my motor mount had 2 cracks in it, could this have anything to do with it? Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to help out!

No a crack mount will not cause the engine to misfires. If it did not do it before those parts was replace. Then you might just want to go get that looked at and see if it was done right. Any of those if not done right can cause the engine to misfire.

Could be. And also check the compression. Engine probably needs a rebuild.

It could be something as simple as a plug wire grounding out.

  • 2000 ford ranger 6 cylinder engine is making a taping noise? I left it set more a couple months and now it is making a taping noise when I start it. My friend had a stethoscope with a rod on it… He held it to the valve covers and block to listen. I heard nothing on valve cover and only heard it slightly on the block, but it was really loud on the alternator… Does that mean it is my alternator? How accurate is a stethescope? Also, the battery was dead and we jumped it… Not sure if that matters… Any ideas?
  • 1998 Ford ranger Misfire Cylinder 3? So I'm getting a misfire in cylinder 3 and it has been preventing my truck from starting. Changed the Alternator, battery, fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, cables and coil packs and ran sea foam through it. It's a 4 cylinder truck I don't know what the hell is the problem at this point very frustrated and just completely annoyed by it does anyone have the slightest idea of what this could be?
